FUNDING AGENCIES
With its vision of "towards a safe and just world free of poverty," New Zealand Aid is focused on making a significant impact on international poverty reduction efforts particularly in the Pacific region, and also supports projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
NZAID places a high priority on building strong partnerships and concentrates its development assistance on activities that contribute to poverty elimination by creating safe, just and inclusive societies, fulfilling basic needs, and achieving environmental sustainability and sustainable livelihoods. Through the Asia Development Facility (ADAF), NZAID committed to supporting KAISAHAN's Area Specific Development Program (ASDP) in the municipality of Barotac Viejo in Iloilo. This joint program with the Municipal Government of Barotac Viejo and the local federation PATANOM, entitled Strengthening Improved Access To Land And Other Resources In The Philippines, started in October 2005 and ends in September 2008. In September 2007, the Final Evaluation Report was released on KAISAHAN's "Area Specific Development Program" as part of the series of project evaluations supported by the German Catholic and Protestant Development Organisations EED/EZE and KZE/Misereor. The evaluations were used to analyse and assess achievements and experiences of programs in regard to the objective of German Development Co-operation "Enhancing the Participation of the Poor - Strengthening Good Governance" (Programme of Action 2015). Cordaid combines more than 90 years' experience and expertise in emergency aid and structural poverty eradication. It is one of the biggest international development organisations with a network of almost a thousand partner organisations in 36 countries in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Latin America.
Cordaid has been a major partner of Kaisahan for over ten years supporting marginalized farmers and farmworkers in over 100 barangays in Visayas and Mindanaw through our Area Specific Development Program and national advocacy work. In January 2007, we inked a new project (2007-2009) with Cordaid with the aim of further strengthening local and national institutions in claiming and safeguarding peasants' gains in the agrarian reform front. Cordaid is also indirectly supporting Kaisahan in strengthening and refining its gender program through its Gender Mainstreaming Project for CORDAID partners which started in April 2007. Cordaid also provided a small grant for a project spanning eighteen months (18) aimed at increasing the institutional capability of KAISAHAN in doing local fund raising was completed in April 2007 and was conducted in partnership with Venture for Fund Raising.
